The top step that stands out is the cornstarch and egg mixture that coats the chicken; it’s a perfect combination that does not overtake the chicken with a thick crust, but instead leaves a nice thin coat that does not flake off.

Now, this is not pictured here, but behind the scenes I was also baking salmon and happened to coat it with this same sauce since I had extra and oh my goodness…..YUM!
Honey Garlic Sesame Chicken
Ingredients
- 4-5 chicken breasts thin sliced
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
- pinch salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup canola oil for frying
Sauce
- 3/4 cup honey
- 3/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Garnish
- sesame seeds
- green onions chopped
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and season with salt, pepper and seasoned salt.
- In one medium/large bowl, place the cornstarch and 3 eggs together and whisk thoroughly. Place chicken bites in cornstarch egg mixture and make sure to coat completely.
- Heat up canola oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook chicken bites until lightly browned. Place chicken in a 9 x 13 greased baking dish or pan.
- Once out of the oven, toss in sauce, sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions, serve and enjoy!
Sauce
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Whisk sauce and pour over chicken bites and bake for 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked.
- Be sure to stir the chicken through the sauce twice every 15 minutes; this makes the sauce stick to chicken perfectly.
