Lunch Date with Ida Claire

It’s a great day to indulge in a new eatery on a weekday afternoon!

We are certainly raving about our first and recent visit to Ida Claire, a Southern style restaurant and bar that is located in San Antonio’s Alamo Quarry Market. We were treated to an amazing lunch and awesome drinks! Arlowe was lucky enough to tag along with us on this outing and wandered through the many fun outside areas.

Appetizer

Ida’s Biscuits are a signature dish that everyone needs to try! They’re melt in your mouth yummy! They come with a bacon house gravy, house jam that so happened to be strawberry peach, and the most delicious honey butter I have ever tasted! The minute our waiter started describing them, I didn’t even let him finish, I said, “Yes, we will have that!” No hesitation!

Drinks

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the beautiful and super creative drinks before us.

My Drink: Southern Old Fashioned (bourbon, sorghum, house bitters, hamsa ice, orange peel) Take a look at my ice cube! It’s the Ida Clair logo! How fun is that! Oh and yum to boot! I pretty much order my favorite drink everywhere I go and let me tell you, theirs was beyond good!

A.J’s Drinks: Ida’s G&T (Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Gin, Fever Tree Tonic, Fever Tree Soda, Lavender Bitters) Man Mosa (bourbon, honey, lemon juice, orange juice, blood & honey) I just love that name! Totally lived up to its name because A.J thoroughly enjoyed it! Might even order it myself next time!

Main

The main events were YUM-MAY. Arlowe loved his Buttered Pasta and seasoned crispy potato chips!

My Selection: Shrimp & Ancient Grain Salad (grilled shrimp, mixed grains, feta, fennel, celery root, kale, pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, roasted squash, red wine vinaigrette) I cannot tell rave about this bowl enough! The shrimp was grilled to perfection; I literally ate my whole meal! The over all dish was just what I wanted and I will definitely be ordering it again soon!

A.J’s Selection: Shrimp & Grits (grilled shrimp, bacon, Gristmill asiago grits, sauce piquant) He loved this dish and so did I; because I totally like to taste everyone’s meal too! Isn’t that a mom thing?!

Dessert

Okay, at this point I don’t even know how we managed to have dessert, but I didn’t want to miss out on trying one of their amazing selections!

Ida’s Chocolate Pecan Pie is a fun twist on the traditional pecan pie! Now, I am not one for just regular pecan pie, which takes me back a Thanksgiving dinner. I wanted to give this a try and thank God I did! It’s rich decadent chocolate filling with pecans was the cherry on top of a wonderful dining experience! Oh, and did I mention it comes à la mode!

The outside space is filled with unique areas including a zen rock fountain that you can walk around and even a decorated Airstream for all your Instagram worthy photos!

Conclusion

Ida Claire is worth every visit, bite & sip!

Best part is that Ida Claire’s atmosphere is so warm and inviting to families. It didn’t matter how many times Arlowe threw down his crayons and menu, our neighboring guests happily helped us retrieve them. The management and staff were exceptional and made us feel so welcomed.

What really impressed us is that if we’re feeling more like a pickup and chill out at home night with the kids, Ida Claire offers curbside meal kits, so we can bring the deliciousness home! Check it out here!

Can’t wait for our next visit!
