Spring Break on the Island

There is no time like Island Time. This is our second Spring Break visiting North Padre Island and we love making memories here! We spent the days Friday through Sunday and enjoyed amazing sights and best of all, yummy food! Before any of the fun plans could happen, I had to make reservations for our sweet Emmy at her number one choice place to stay at, A Place for Paws. It is located in Beeville, TX, where we moved from, so driving through is nice as we get to see the town again. The doggie place is wonderful and the staff is amazing at making sure Emmy is always well taken care, so when booking her spot for the weekend, there was no hesitation.

Friday

We make our way to our condo, check-in and have a quick rest before we head out to Docs Seafood restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner. Best place for the best drinks! I enjoyed a Malibu Sunrise while A.J opted for a swirled Strawberry Margarita, both were yum! They also have a large viewing area on the bottom where you can relax and grab drinks from the bar while you dine on the deck. Rest assured you will have the most gorgeous views of the ocean and boats passing through the bay.

This Malibu Sunrise was absolutely delicious! Yum to the last drop!

One perk of visiting the island is that my In-Laws live here, right along the beach, so the kids got in some grandparent time! They love spending time with them as they do live kind of far from us and don’t see them on a regular basis. So the evening was spent with good company and having the kids swim in the heated pool, because Friday evening it was chilly, I believe the temperature was around 60 degrees. I was the only one that didn’t swim because I didn’t want to freeze when I jumped out! Smart I would say. LOL

Saturday

The next morning we ventured out for breakfast, coffee and headed to Port Aransas where we stopped by the park to view the dolphins in the bay! The park lines up along the ferry area and large boats are also passing through. We even saw a pirate ship tour happening, which looked like a lot of fun! The park has three separate playground areas, including a nice fenced in toddler area which we always like. Lots of space for kite flying and many people were fishing along the parks edge.

Next up was visiting all the great local shops and we sure did come home with plenty of finds. From new shoes to new beach toys, and all the floaties for Arlowe. If your looking to do some damage you certainly have your pick of tons of boutiques and fun places to find what your searching for.

All the shops enforced a mandatory mask policy so this was nice; keeping everyone safe all together. After roaming around we were hungry so we made our way to our favorite local spot, The Spaghetti Warehouse. The fresh seafood selection here is wonderful and contains a variety of delicious options! Highly recommend!

I chose my usual dish, “Joe’s Fish”, which is a grilled fish fillet immersed in a rich creamy bleu cheese sauce with shrimp, bacon and asparagus. No words, just amazing. They also have a cute boutique inside, full of kids play items and women’s attire, jewelry and home decor so you can shop after dinner, win win!

We end the evening with rest at the condo, while baby napped I was able to get in a few chapters of the book I’m currently reading. There’s nothing like reading along the shore; so relaxing hearing the waves and feeling the breeze.

I am currently reading Happy & You Know It by Laura Hankin. It’s pretty good; I’ve posted on my social media that if your a mom and on Instagram, you’ll enjoy its storyline. Group of moms bring to life their own individual stories during weekly playdates…story of our lives, am I right?! It really is a good read and I’m enjoying it.

Movies in the living room, freshly popped popcorn and Hershey’s chocolate made for an excellent movie night with the kids. Before we knew it it was 11:00 pm, way past all of our bedtimes. I will add that the Island was really nice and quiet during the night, since this was the weekend AFTER spring break, I’m sure most of the spring breakers had already left back home.

Sunday

It’s our last day here and the warmest day of our visit, so naturally we spend it at the beach. This stretch of shoreline is called WhiteCap Beach. The waves are little rough today and make for great splashes; kids would run in and just as fast run back out as the the waves chase them because the water was so COLD! For me up to my calves was just enough!

The sunshine was welcomed and I made sure to bask in it as long as I could! Along the beach is plenty of shore to explore and at the end there is a long fishing pier. Next time we’ll be prepared with bait and fishing rods lol There are also sand dunes to run up and down on, and sink down into, like I did.

Below I leave you with our 2021 Spring Break beach memories!

Sunday was by far my most favorite day.

Beach days are my gold.
